About Me

Hey there! If you haven’t guessed it already, I’m Gavin. Growing up in your average, middle-class Northwest Indiana family surrounded by flat lands and cornfields, I didn’t exactly find myself looking around at epic scenes of beautiful nature. To remedy this, my parents took my three older brothers and I on frequent family camping trips throughout the United States visiting places like the Grand Canyon or Yellowstone National Park. Though the vast majority of these trips I was too young to remember, I’m convinced that they implanted the desire for adventure deep within my soul. Then at the age of 12, the opportunity to visit Australia with the People to People Student Ambassador Program arose and from this trip came the spark that ignited my irrepressible hunger to explore far away lands. It was from that point on that it had become my dream to travel the world full-time. I then spent the next 13 years figuring out how to make that dream a reality, and finally on the 18th of March 2016, that reality hit me hard when I found myself sitting at O’Hare Airport waiting to board the first of several one-way flights. Sitting there, looking out the window at the aircraft waiting for me, I was a bit overwhelmed. I was in disbelief. I’d fantasized of this moment for so many days, weeks, months, years. And here it was. I was committed. There was no going back. I was jumping head first into a black hole, not quite sure where it would land me. All I knew was, it was going to be epic. So join me here as I share the stories of the wonderful people and incredible adventures I’ve encountered on my journey around the world!
